Fitou, because I need some rest

I must admit this has been quite a though week. A project which we've been working on for a while, and which looked almost closed, is proving to be much more elusive than we thought. Luckily, I can take this weekend off, and tomorrow after my morning visit to the market I'm taking the family and running off to Fitou, a cozy little town in Languedoc-Roussillon, just past Perpginan and altogether about 250 km. from Barcelona, center to the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée with the same name.

Sao Paulo Gastro Tour - Julia Cocina

Paula Cocina is an Argentine restaurant offering "creative cuisine" in a posh Sao Paulo Area.
I didn't find the dishes as very much argie, and the food was just ok. Click on the pics to see the whole album.

Sao Paulo Gastro Tour - Tordesilhas

Fried Brazilian cheese cubes. delicious. If you try to define Brazilian cuisine as a whole entity, you'll find it to be quite a hard task, since five different traditions can be clearly delineated. In this respect, Tordesilhas is a good option for people wanting to try typical staple dishes from each one of this traditions in one place. The food is great, the service is attentive and they have an amazing list of Cachaças (sugar cane rum) from which to choose.

Sao Paulo Gastro Tour - March 2005

My cousin Gabriel, cook extraordinaire. On my way to Buenos Aires I decided to stay in Sao Paulo for a week with my cousin Gabriel, who is a cook. Gabi has worked in some pretty upscale kitchens in the city, and thus fairly well connected to the local food scene. The plan is to go for a 5 day gastronomic tour of Sao Paulo, touching the good, the avant garde, the classic, and the source. Sao Paulo is a great city (in every aspect, although I mean culinary-wise), and what follows is an account of the places we visit. We start today with lunch at an Argentinian place offering "creative fusion", called Paula Cocina. For dinner we will visit chef/local celeb Alex Atala's D.O.M. restaurant, apparently the top pick in the city. more reports to come.

About

I am a foodie living in Barcelona, Spain. In my professional life I am a computer scientist. However, gastronomy is my passion, and I own a stall selling fresh pasta in the Boqueria market. I enjoy visiting markets anywhere I can, as well as restaurants and really anything related to food in general.
